[The morning clicks over.

You awaken having had a series of odd dreams last night. You feel wide awake this morning, your brain alive and awake. But your thoughts keep drifting to someone in particular....]

[ waggles his eyebrows a bit but in the absence of obvious sexual tension he doesn't say anything ]

Exorcist, is it. With very real threats I imagine.

[You still get a BIT OF A LOOK at that.]

The militia is specifically dedicated to demon suppression.

[It would probably be a laughable claim if not for the sheer amount of visible scars alone, much less than the very real thing they were fighting last night.

She starts putting the weapons back in the case, a bit haphazardly.]

[ yyyyyeah he's beginning to. well, not believe in this sort of thing, but acknowledging that it is possible, at least, and also the best explanation he has at the moment. ]

How fortunate I must be to come from a world without such creatures.

The majority of them leave well enough alone. They're just ridiculously strong, fast, powerful. They heal in an instant... So when one goes rogue or is forced to by a human summoner... lives are gone in an instant. Whole blocks. Cities.

We've done really well. It wasn't until just recently that anyone believed in 'such creatures' in my world either.

Have they existed the whole time? In the shadows of normal society, perhaps?

[soul_sister]

[She shakes her head.]

Separate entirely. I don't really know much about Pandemonium, really.

[beeductionist]

But it is a literal place? You're quite sure of this?

[soul_sister]

Very. [The simple, unwavering tones of faith.]

[ somehow he looks less convinced by that than he should. ]

[She seems unruffled by that. Closes the case and uses one of the straps to heft it up again.]

If you really don't know about it, then maybe everything works out.

Or we are from completely different universes, given that I am fictional in yours.

[ speaking of which, flipping through a magazine ]

I'm going to leave it as you're just different. It's too complicated as it is.

[It takes a bit of flipping through a few other short stories to get to... what appears to be a first person accounting.]

Who wouldn't be? His Professor Challenger stories were so popular that he resorted to throwing the titular character off a waterfall in order to end the series, and yet he still found himself returning to write more after the fans' outcry over the subject.

Reichenbach Falls?

What do you know about Moriarty?

[Ah............. WRONG GUESS is very all over the air.]

[ yeeeep. not uncoiling just yet, though his tone is unusually soft when he speaks again. ]

He's a professor at a small university. Sort of the ring leader of a massive crime organization that involved all of England. He's Sherlock's arch nemesis even though he only directly shows up in one story...

Just the Final Problem, where he and Sherlock Holmes fall over Reichenbach Falls locked in combat..... [a little weakly] to end the series... though it picked back up not too long ago...
