[The morning clicks over.

You awaken having had a series of odd dreams last night. You feel wide awake this morning, your brain alive and awake. But your thoughts keep drifting to someone in particular....]

[ a pause. normally he'd be more than happy to let her go ... but ... ugh, stupid mental compulsion. he follows her. ]

Your tolerance is unbelievably low.

[soul_sister]

You know, I know you don't like me either.

[beeductionist]

I would have gotten along quite well with you if you hadn't insisted on my status as an impostor.

[soul_sister]

What else do I have to go off of?

[Actually stops, turning to look back at him.]


Tell me one of YOUR stories.

One of my cases, you mean?

[soul_sister]

[There... actually isn't a lot of impending judgement on her face, oddly enough.]

Yeah, like that.

Are you familiar with airplanes?

[soul_sister]

Mm. I've flown once or twice on the Order's airplane.

[beeductionist]

... Unusual.

[soul_sister]

Well!

I have some bad luck with trains in general.

[beeductionist]

[ a shrug ]

In any case. I have a particular fascination for plane crashes, given how very fragile such a craft really is. This one was a small plane, with only three souls on board.

[soul_sister]

[Leans against a portion of the wall, listening.]

[ he quickly goes through the details of the case: a dead body on the plane not killed by the crash, originally thought to be killed during the flight, due to a conflict between the lawyers on board. but Sherlock correctly deduced that he couldn't have been killed onboard, given the recordings from the black box, and he then went on to find out that the owner of the company renting out the plane's services was responsible. the pilot of that particular flight had threatened to call the cops on a smuggling operation and had to be silenced via the crash - with the original murder that piqued Sherlock's interest being merely an accident of observing the plane sabotage.

Major points of deduction: finding sand on a beach that was not correctly eroded (thus, sand used to sabotage the plane), a wrench left in brackish water (the same location as another murdered victim), and the scent of airplane glue being used to hold together a large wound on the killer. ]

[She's not as quick as Watson, there are pauses, and a few interruptions in the story to go back or clarify, but you can see her following the connections as you tell the story, with appropriate fascination and disbelief.]

I can't help the terrible feeling there should be a quippy line about a wrench in their plans.

[ he is relatively patient with that, especially since she's having the appropriate reactions. ]

Alas, the appropriate time never arose.

[That gets a snort of laughter.]

So is that sort of thing how you got into the line of work?

To make witty comments? Hardly.
