[Day 2, Night - A House South of Town]

[Written into the ground alongside one of the houses to the south of town tonight are a series of strange letters, forming a rough circle near the wall. A figure of approximately Loki's build, not there during the day's exploration, leans against the wall at the corner. The door to the house is open.]

[Some hours after the sudden switch from day to night, Loki stands in front of the door, a candle before him, a kitchen knife in one hand and a spoon in the other. He checks the mirror set carefully in the darkness, nothing yet visible in its surface. Then he strikes the knife with the spoon's handle, and he holds his breath - and he waits.]

[Drake gives Elena a once-over to make sure she is okay and, satisfied, gently claps her on the shoulder and makes his way over to... cyborg-ninja guy. Who doesn't look too hot right now.

He offers his hand should he need help getting to his feet.]

You all right, chief?

Nhrrgh... [blinks blearily at the hand, his visual sensors wavering and flickering a bit as they steady. He looks up at who's offering, then just... takes the hand.]

[He pulls back with a loud grunt- this guy's heavier than he thought. And yet something he should have expected. When he speaks his voice is strained.]

Any idea what that was? Or what knocked a guy like you outta commission?

No idea what it was... I thought I beat the damn thing. I saw Tempest get hit earlier and react really bad... not normal pain.

I cut the thing and then... I don't really know.

Looks like it separated into smaller masses. Even did it after I shot it a couple of times, then it spit some weird liquid.

Yeah... it's a good thing I didn't cut that thing up too many times.

Did that come from here? It just chased after us... And the way it used those dolls' bodies... is it even dead?

Hope so. It ah, it sorta... melted. [And hopefully that's the last of it.] But if I had to guess I'd say it originated from somewhere outside the south gate. Whoever was out here first might know more.

I watched it with infrared, and it didn't dissipate so much as just... sink down and disappear. I don't like it.

I'll scout on ahead. I feel like I'm missing something anyway...

[He makes a face at that. The thought of this thing popping up anywhere else is unsettling.]

That's not a bad idea. You want backup?
