[ Over the murmur of conversations, explorations and violent attempts at escape, there comes a sound tick tick tick tick tick.............. CLICK.... The sky above snaps across the dome from blue to black... and everything goes dark.

A glow comes from the front door of each of the inns and one by one, you can see street lanterns begin to light up steadily past each of the gates.

The only flickering, organic light comes from above in the tower, spluttering high, high above everyone, through the slats of the closed shutters. After a moment, it's gone. ]

It's certainly looking that way.

And yet our goals align with the creator of this place. He would see us gone, and a good many of us would be gone.

Surely something can be arranged.

If he could be reasoned with. From what we saw of him ... he's not that reasonable.

Not entirely of sound mind, perhaps, but that scarcely means we should set aside the opportunity before we've tried.

We're going to have to get him to actually listen to us somehow, though.

He came to the window earlier, when I made enough of a nuisance of myself.

We need only make ourselves unable to ignore.

Hm, but making him annoyed enough to poke his head out won't necessarily mean he'd be willing to try and understand us.

Making him agreeable is hardly the same as making him willing. If we're pests to be rid of, he'll be likelier yet to wish us gone.
