You awaken having had a series of odd dreams last night. You feel wide awake this morning, your brain alive and awake. But your thoughts keep drifting to someone in particular....]

A place of great beauty. It floats above the vast stretches of the land beyond the city known as Broxton, and from its streets one can see the lights of the world tree.

[This is the part where I conveniently don't mention the people there.]

A county . . . ?

Near the Wichita mountains? There's a current there . . .

A current can scarce be expected to bring the whole of a realm.

Not bring. But it's not a bad place to dock.

[Shakes her head.]

Dock in the manner of ships?

The year was two thousand and thirteen, by the reckoning of the most popular mortal calendar.

Was. We know not whether it remains the same in this place.

It may not be. There's people here from 1924, too.

Different times. Different worlds—you and I know that's possible, but this many? And few to none the same.

Raiden's likely from later than you.

Perhaps the difference is not in worlds at all.

Realities.

What makes you think that?

Were it worlds, my Midgard ought not be a place where it is known that turtles train in silent ways of combat nor that a detective of remarkably sharp mind hails from across the sea and bends his will toward the solving of crime.

And yet these things are known. To hear it spoken, they are not known in the Midgard of those to whom they belong.
