snappingturtle: (Lookin' good!)

(no subject)

[So, after a hard morning of adventuring, our heroes are having a much needed rest back at the inns with their prizes. Some people may be busily chatting over the different robot parts that were found scattered across the city, but the turtles have bigger fish to fry.

Literally.

The kitchen of the Sword, Shield, and Spear is a flurry of activity and delicious smells in between Rapunzel flitting about and Mikey and Raph following after her to give basic instructions. The construction of pizza is an art after all.]

It's real easy! I mean—I don't get the dough, but the important thing to remember is dough, sauce, toppings. The dough's just to hold everything else together.

For someone that wanted to avoid a factory you sure are eager to mess around with a cyborg's foot, Tempest.

[Late 1700s dress style, but she's also from mishmash fantasy Germany and wasn't exposed to many different changing fashions so it's probably weird and not as informative as it could be]

I know music! I'm good with music.
beeductionist: (k I'll call you later)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-16 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
What instruments?

[ curse you fictional people for ruining my deduction ]
tonewlengths: (I have an explanation. And it's a good o)

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-16 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I play the guitar and the lute.
beeductionist: (piano)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-16 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. When you wish to play a higher note, you place your fingers higher on the guitar, yes? A shorter string produces a higher-pitched sound.

[rolls her eyes]

A foot is a foot, yes? Whether there are metal bits stuck in it or rocks - it is all the same to me.

[takes it . . . ]

Thank you . . . ah. How do you eat it?
atacarme: (pic#5981957)

[personal profile] atacarme 2013-04-16 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-16 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nods] Yes, that's right.

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-16 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It's got a bread base, so I assume with your hands, you don't normally use cutlery for bread. [Glancing back to see how everyone else is doing it]
beeductionist: (elementary)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-16 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
And the opposite goes for low notes. Imagine, then, a guitar with strings so long that the note goes lower and lower, until you cannot physically hear the note at all.
tonewlengths: (I don't understand that reference)

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-16 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
But you said it was wireless.
beeductionist: (allow me to point this out)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-16 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
The sound itself does not require a wire for you to hear it, yes? And when the note goes too low to actually be heard, the sound is still being transmitted - you simply cannot detect it.

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-16 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
So electricity is like the background music.
beeductionist: (unattractive)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-16 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I was explaining wireless communication.
tonewlengths: (Why can't any of these cats spell?)

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-16 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
But wireless communication uses this electricity thing, right? You said about codes...
beeductionist: (HMMMMM)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-16 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Electricity powers the device, yes. The inaudible sound travels through the air using specific patterns that encode information.

[also looking . . . strange :O]
tonewlengths: (In a pickle)

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-17 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
So it is like background music. Does the phone decode the information?
tonewlengths: (Who didn't see that coming)

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-17 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Hmmm... Shrugs, when in Rome. Picks her own slice up and takes a bite]
beeductionist: (allow me to point this out)

[personal profile] beeductionist 2013-04-17 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
[ a nod ]

Exactly. Of course, the scientific explanation is a bit more complicated, but that is the general idea.
atacarme: (pic#5910882)

[personal profile] atacarme 2013-04-17 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[doing the same, taking a small bite.

. . . !!]
tonewlengths: (And the dragon played the bass)

[personal profile] tonewlengths 2013-04-17 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[!!]

It's good!
atacarme: (pic#5981946)

[personal profile] atacarme 2013-04-17 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
It is.

[yes devouring now]
allsneakandnoplay: (THE OL' BOX TRICK.)

[personal profile] allsneakandnoplay 2013-04-17 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I don't think you're seeing the issue here.
